
Carrie Mae Weems is a contemporary, multimedia artist. She has invested her art into exploring the problems of sexism, classism, racism, and many other political problems. She has used photography, text, fabric, audio, and a lot of other mediums to create her artwork. Weems has recieved plenty of awards including the WEB Dubois Award from Harvard University. She is still living and is being represented in the Jack Shainman Gallery.
